Thank you so much to all you wonderful folk who have bought one of our festive charity bake along boxes! For each box bought, we’ve raised £5 for The Chelsea Pensioners. Below is some advice from our community baker, Kevan Roberts, on how to look after the sourdough starter that’s in your box so it’s ready for our virtual bake along on December 17th at 6.30pm.

1) Place your starter and your chestnut, sage and onion mixture into the fridge once you’ve opened your box.

2) On the morning of the class, decant your starter into a larger container and feed it. A feed consists of:

  • 50g flour (provided)
  • 50g water (room temperature)

Combine together, cover with cling film or a tea towel and leave on your kitchen work surface. And for even more great advice on how to look after starters, check out the video below:
